SDS/MSA Support Group Meetings

The 2011 SDS/MSA Support Group Patient/Caregiver Meeting details:


Date: October 28-29, 2011

City: Dallas, TX

Registration: Email Vera James and let her know how many people in your group will be attending

Event Venue: Sheraton - Dallas/Fort Worth Airport Hotel

Room Rate: $99.00/night if reserved by October 6th.  Call (800) 345-5251 and ask for the SDS/MSA Support Group Rate. 

There is no registration fee for the meeting.

Presenters:

  • Host -- Dr. Steve Vernino: UT Southwestern Medical Center, Associate Professor, Neurology in Dallas, TX
  • Dr. David Robertson: Vanderbilt University Medical center in Nashville, Tennessee.
  • Dr. Shilpa Chitnis: Associate professor of neurology and neurotherapeutics, UT Southwestern, section of movement disorders
  • Dr. Pravin Khemani: Assistant professor, UT Southwestern section of movement disorders
  • Jeannine Marmaduke: MSA speech and voice therapist,  UT Southwestern Medical Center 

Meeting Agenda:

  • Friday Evening:
    •  6:00 P.M. - Social Hour for Patients, Caregivers and Family Members.
      • Snacks will be served. 
  • Saturday:
    • 7:30 A.M. to 8:30 A.M. - Group Breakfast
    • 9:00 A.M. - Meeting will begin- Medical presentations
    • 10:30 A.M. - Break and snacks
    • 12:00 Noon - Lunch
    • 1:00 P.M. - Meeting continues - Patient/Caregiver Breakout Sessions
    • 3:00 P.M. - Break
    • 4:30 P.M. - Meeting will close

    • Dr. Vernino - management of autonomic symptoms
    • Dr. Shilpa Chitnis - introduction to MSA, the different faces of the disease
    • Dr. Pravin Khemani - management of motor manifestations of MSA
    • Dr. Robertson - Future of treatments for MSA
    • Jeannine Marmaduke - Speach and voice therapy for MSA patients
